Thank you for helping to make Child Trust Fund Week a success
We would like to thank everyone who participated in Child Trust Fund Week in January 2007.
Ed Balls, Treasury Minister launched the week supported by celebrity mum, Sheree Murphy (formerly of TV's Emmerdale and I'm a Celebrity....Get me out of Here) and we had top advice from TV's independent financial expert and author Alvin Hall.
Across the country, organisations that support parents ran their own Child Trust Fund Week activities including drop-in sessions at local children’s centres, outreach teams visiting parents at home and information displays in nurseries and children’s libraries.
Some examples of how organisations got involved:
- Stoke-On-Trent’s Children’s Centres held a series of coffee mornings where they passed on information to parents.
- Tyneside NHS Trust sent information to 3,500 staff via email and their staff intranet.
- Both Calderdale Children's Information Services in Yorkshire and Partington and Carrington Children's Centre in Greater Manchester displayed information with a staff member on hand to answer parent's questions.
A spokesperson from Opportunity Links said “Child Trust Fund Week has provided parents with a great opportunity to learn more about the Child Trust Fund and saving, and raised awareness of the support available to parents.”
Child Trust Fund account providers and distributors got involved too, placing special editorial material on their websites and in the press.
The Week received an immense amount of publicity, with extensive media coverage including the News of the World – Sunday Magazine, The Sun and The Mirror. Features on an array of programmes such as GMTV, Sky News and The Wright Stuff also raised awareness of the Child Trust Fund.
Thank you to everyone who took part, and for your continued support.
