Managing an account

There are four sections about managing your child’s account. Below you’ll find a summary of the content, followed by a link to that section.

Introduction to managing an account

It is important to keep track of a Child Trust Fund (CTF) account. The registered contact is the only person who can give instructions to the CTF provider.

Changing accounts and providers

The registered contact, and the child when he or she has turned 16, can change the CTF account or provider at any time.

Accessing the money

The account stops being a CTF account on the child's 18th birthday. They then have full access to the money in the account and can use it or reinvest it as they think best.

Several organisations offer websites you might find helpful. They give more information about saving and investing and they cover wider money issues like budgeting and financial planning.
